Touch Light Switches: frequently asked questions

Will these glass touch switches fit a standard UAE back box?+

Not always. Many UAE homes use square BS 4662 back boxes, while many of our switches are Italian-standard modular plates (3M, 4M or 6M); some Livolo 4M plates need 4-module boxes with 108 mm screw spacing. Check the back-box and frame specs on each product page before ordering.

Do the switch-and-socket combination plates take UK-style plugs?+

No. Combination plates such as the Luxion Glass Frame Switch + Narrow Socket + Schuko Socket use European Schuko (Type F) sockets, not UK BS 1363 (Type G) sockets common in the UAE. UK three-pin plugs will not fit them.

Can I control the lights from my phone or with Alexa?+

Yes, with the smart models. Livolo Wi-Fi touch switches connect directly to your router via the Livolo Home app, while Livolo Zigbee EC switches need the Livolo Zigbee EC Wi-Fi Smart Hub VL-XG005. Some Zigbee EC models list Amazon Alexa and Google Home voice control via the hub.

Do you sell 2-way and dimmer touch switches?+

Yes. The range includes 2-way and intermediate switches for staircases and corridors, such as Livolo Wi-Fi and Zigbee EC 2-way models, plus dimmers like the Livolo Glass Touch Dimmer, which suits incandescent or dimmable LED bulbs. Luxion also offers mechanical dimmers with glass frames.

Is there an option that needs no new wiring?+

Luxion self-powered kinetic remote switches (1, 2 or 3 gang) are battery-free 433 MHz switches that need no wiring and pair with the Luxion kinetic relay. The relay itself connects to the lighting circuit, so fixed wiring should be done by a qualified electrician following DEWA, ADDC/AADC or SEWA rules.

Who should install a touch light switch in my home?+

Replacing a wall switch involves fixed mains wiring, so use a qualified electrician who follows local authority rules (DEWA, ADDC/AADC or SEWA). Tenants should also get the landlord's written approval, as the unified Ejari contract prohibits modifications without it.

Upgrade your home with elegant touch light switches from brands such as Livolo, Luxion and Sonoff. With a sleek glass panel and a light touch to operate, these switches combine modern design with practical smart features that make everyday lighting easier.

Many of our touch switches go beyond a simple on/off. Wireless models can be controlled by remote or via a mobile app, so you can schedule lights to switch on exactly when you wake up or come home. When choosing, consider the function you need:

  • Two-way and intermediate switches for stairs and corridors
  • Dimmer switches to adjust brightness
  • Curtain switches, wireless or standard
  • Timer and momentary (push-return) switches

Whatever the function, the design stays consistent, so you can match switches throughout your home. Once you go smart, you never go back.
