Frames & Modules: frequently asked questions

Can I mix Livolo and Luxion modules and frames?+

No. The product pages state that Livolo glass panels are compatible with Livolo modules only, and Luxion frames and panels are compatible only with Luxion modules. Choose one brand and keep frames, panels and modules within that brand.

What is the difference between German/European and Italian standard modules?+

They are built for different back box and frame systems. Italian standard (modular) items are sized in modules (1M, 2M, 3M) and fit Luxion glass frames of 3, 4 or 6 modules, while German/European items suit round European back boxes. Check the standard listed on each product page and confirm it matches your wall box before ordering.

Will these frames fit the square back boxes used in UAE homes?+

Many UAE walls use square BS 4662 back boxes, whereas European and Italian standard frames are designed for different box formats. Compare the frame and module standard on the product page with your existing box, and ask a qualified electrician to confirm the fit before buying.

Are the socket modules compatible with UAE plugs?+

No. Our power socket modules, such as the Luxion Schuko Socket Module 2M, are European Schuko (Type F), not UK-style BS 1363 (Type G) as found in most UAE homes. USB, HDMI, audio, satellite and telephone modules are also available for media and charging points.

What kinds of modules can I combine in a glass or marble frame?+

Luxion modules include touch and mechanical light switches, 2-way and intermediate switches, blinds and fan switches, doorbell push buttons, motion sensors, night lights, USB chargers, HDMI, audio, satellite, telephone and blank modules. Frames come in tempered glass or natural marble in several sizes and colours such as White, Black, Grey and Gold.

Can I install the frames and modules myself?+

Fitting a frame over existing modules is simple, but wiring switches and sockets is fixed electrical work. It should be carried out by a qualified electrician following your local authority rules (DEWA, ADDC/AADC or SEWA). Tenants should also get the landlord's written approval before making changes.

Build your own Livolo glass touch light switches and glass-frame sockets with our Frames & Modules range. If you are tired of the look of conventional switches and sockets, configuring your own lets you combine the functions you need with a finish that suits your interior.

Planning a renovation involves plenty of decisions, so it helps to take the selection step by step:

  • Choose the touch switch modules for each switch position
  • Add socket modules where you need power points
  • Pick the colour of the glass touch panel or frame
  • Select a compatible back box for installation

Check that every module, glass panel and back box is compatible before ordering. That way, each switch and socket fits together neatly. If you are unsure which combination suits your project, contact our team for guidance and start building a smarter home.
