Do I need a hub for these smart sensors?+
It depends on the connectivity. Wi-Fi sensors such as the Shelly H&T, Sonoff DW2 and Tellur motion sensor connect directly to your 2.4 GHz home Wi-Fi without a hub. Zigbee devices such as the Orvibo SG30 gas detector or Owon SIR216 siren need a compatible Zigbee gateway from the same ecosystem.
How can I monitor humidity to help prevent mould in my apartment?+
A temperature and humidity sensor lets you track conditions from your phone. The Shelly H&T Wi-Fi sensor records history in the Shelly Cloud app, while the Sonoff THS01 and SI7021 plug into compatible Sonoff TH relays and show readings in the eWeLink app.
Are there gas detectors for LPG cylinders used in UAE kitchens?+
Yes. The Shelly Gas LPG detector and the Luxion LX-BG-GS01 detect LPG, sound a 70 dB alarm and send app alerts. The Shelly Gas CNG model is for natural gas. Smart detectors complement, rather than replace, your building's required gas safety equipment.
Do these sensors work with Alexa or Google Home?+
Some do. The Luxion PIR Motion Sensor LX-BG-WP1 is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT, and Luxion door and window sensors work with Tuya / Smart Life. Check each product page for its specific app and voice assistant support before buying.
Can I install the glass-frame motion sensor switches myself?+
Battery and adhesive sensors, such as door and window sensors, are simple DIY fits. Wired models like the Luxion or Livolo PIR motion sensor switches with glass frames connect to mains wiring, so they should be installed by a qualified electrician following local authority rules (DEWA, ADDC/AADC or SEWA).
